The US Padel Guy

About

Hi — I am Scott Matulis

One person, a lot of court time, and a conviction that padel deserves better coverage in this country than it currently gets.

Scott Matulis is “The U.S. Padel Guy” — a place for all things U.S. padel. The courts, the clubs, the gear, the people building it, and the small indignities of learning a racket sport in public.

Not a pro, obviously. Not from Spain. Not famous. Not influential. Mostly here for the banter.

Before this, Scott was a PR rep for the Senior Tennis Tour, which is a polite way of saying he spent several years writing press releases about other people’s knees. It turns out that explaining a racket sport to Americans who have not tried it yet is a transferable skill.

He can occasionally hit a ball off the glass. Occasionally. On a good day. Walls do not lie — they just happen to be very good teachers, and he writes about that too.

The serious version: padel arrived in the United States sideways — through Miami, through tennis clubs looking for off-peak revenue, through anyone who tried it once in Spain and could not stop thinking about it. Most padel writing online is aimed at a European audience, produced by brands, or both. This site is the guide that did not exist when Scott started.

Where the writing lives

Everything is written first for Scott Matulis Padel, the newsletter, and then syndicated here in full — same words, no paywall, with a link back to the original on every piece. Read the archive.

How this site makes money

No sponsors. No endorsements. No offers. Nope, not yet, maybe never.

Nothing on this site is paid placement. When affiliate links or sponsorships are introduced, they will be labelled clearly on the page where they appear. See the gear disclosure.
